For guided visits visitors can choose between the collections of the Groeninge Museum with its beautiful fifteenth-century paintings of the Flemish Primitives and its rich collection of paintings from other eras
the Gruuthuse Museum with its exuberant tapestries, musical instruments, magnificent kitchen and guilds' objects
or the Memling Museum in the old Saint John's Hospital with its permanent exhibition about the hospital itself and the magnificent collection of Memling paintings.

Damme

This cosy, medieval town, once the outer port of Bruges, is situated some five kilometres (three miles) from Bruges. Today, it is a tourist centre for gastronomy but the fifteenth century town hall, the old church and the medieval street pattern are still worth visiting.
